That is such a pain. First of all there need to be seeders seeding the file you want, if you are really lucky you might find the file you want, but if it wasn't started within the last month there likely won't be many seeders.
Even though my upload speed is much lower than my download speed, I usually end up uploading faster then downloading, and long periods of time when nothing gets downloaded at all. I think it took me over a week to download a 2.5 gig DVD Audio iso (and where else are you gonna find that?)
You can't preview what you are downloading and there's rarely a good description and never a working screenshot link. You end up downloading garbage or sometimes even a virus
I was looking for one video, and as I often do, got interested in other similar videos, and started on 5 torrents that were around 100 - 200MB each (none of them were then original one I was looking for). I might have got one of them download before I found all of them here and in other forums, and downloaded all of them, plus the one I was looking for, from RS and MU. In that time I think I had uploaded 600 MB, deleted 4 incompletes and the 5th was not a very good rip.
Oh, actually you can preview incomplete videos with Media Player Classic, but you need a substantial amount of the file with a least a good chunk of the beginning.
Torrent is a nice option, but certainly no replacement for file hosting. If I pay for any service I will go back to Usenet. The only bad thing about that is that it's even more unorganized than the rest of the Internet, but maybe easier to search and filter.
