Description:
This is a utility i use just about once a day on computers that i work on. Its a really basic memory testor for windows based machines. All you have to do is burn the .ISO , and boot to the CD.
Recommended usage:
-After booting to the CD and you see the testor load, press the "T" key. This will activate a more advanced testing procedure.
-Let the program run its course until it makes one complete pass (approx. 10 minutes depending on your system) You can do more passes if you feel like it, but one is good enough.
-Unless you see in Red at the bottom "FAILED", you have good memory installed and you can move on to other hardware tests.
-The red failed 99% of the time means you have a bad stick of memory installed in your machine. If you only have one DIMM installed, your process of elimination is easy. If you have more then one, then you must remove a DIMM and run this procedure on each DIMM one at a time. I recommend if you do have more then one, and you originally get a "FAILED" message, that you test all DIMMS in your system. There has been more then a dozen occations that i have found more then one bad memory module.
-There is rare instances that i have found just to keep everyone informed. Sometimes even after replacing your RAM, you may still get a FAILED message. This has only happened once to me, and it eneded up being the Processors on-die memory, commonly known as "Cache". Be advised that this may happen to you as well, and this is where you might have to bring in other tools to locate your exact problem. I recommend a program called "microscope" to test processor cache.
Thats it! I hope i made this program understandable and easy to use...
