Windows Live Messenger 2008
yesterday's launch of the Windows Live Installer contains the latest release of Windows Live Messenger. Despite the removal of the Beta-tag, the Messenger team explicitly calls it Beta 2. I was unable to spot many differences in build 8.5.1288.816, except for the slightly darker default header color (am I right?) and the Version 2008 label instead of 8.5 in the About window. The main difference is that this release is available in 35 languages, in contrast to the mere six of Beta 1. The main annoyance is that it's currently only available through the Windows Live Installer which seems to impose several other (unwanted) applications upon me. Furthermore, the installer doesn't run on Windows Vista x64, can you believe it? here's a DIY-fix for x64 owners Code:
