I hear that blueray hold ALOT and I mean ALOT more data/information than that of dvd's, the picture quality is also supposed to be about 100x better, they are quite expensive, along with the blue ray disk players, but a friend of mine has teh ps3, which plays bluray, and the picture quality of movies was GREAT!

Blu-Ray because:
1) it can hold more data
2) it has a hard coating that makes it more durable

Well.. hddvd has a capacity of 15-30gb, while blu-ray discs have 25-50gb of capacity... someone might say well the the bigger capacity has to be better but.. if you look at the costs of one blu ray disc vs 2 hddvd disks its cheaper to get hddvd per gb... although this is true sometimes.. the cost of blu-ray discs is dropping... Really what it is up to when buying movies is just what movies are coming out on each... many people are predicting that blu-ray will lose some of its endorsements because of the production costs and the expense of the diodes in the readers but this is just speculation... the quality of video is essentialy the same on both yet bluray players and disks cost more...
